On my way into work this morning, I found I had no heat. Replaced the blower motor, t-stat, t-stat housing and upper radiator hose a month ago. Blower works, alot of nice cold air coming out of the vent. The heat has worked fine up until this morning, but it's not been as cold. It was 33 when I left for work this morning, previously it was no colder than about 38 and normally 40s. Temp guage ran where it normally does, little less than half.
I have yet to check the coolant level, will do that once I get back home tonight. Other than this, anyone have any other suggestions on what the problem might be?
truck is a 95 SLT CC 4x4.

Coolant is good. Anyone have any other suggestions? Maybe t-stat is stuck? Gonna be a cold ride tomorrow morning, low of 25!

Have a temp gauge ? That should tell if your thermostat is overcooling the motor; if not, feel a radiator hose to see if its hot.

The temp guage in the truck does not have any numbers. It's been running a little below half-way, it's been doing this since replacing the tstat a month ago. Yes, the upper hose is hot so i know the tstat is opening. I believe it's staying open.

I decided to check the lower radiator hose. It is a little soft in some spots. Also, it felt like it had some stuff inside of it near the end that connects to the block - kind of like the hose was around something. Since feeling the lower hose, the heat has been working fine. I'll just replace it tonight.

It's a coin toss if my heat works or not. I have yet to replace the lower hose but will do so anyway. I'm wondering now if it could be the controls instead of the tstat. Not saying the tstat is good, just that i hope it's not because it's only a month old.
Anyone know of any way to test to see if the temp controls are working properly? On my way home last night, the heat was working a little too good so i turned the temp control toward the middle of cold and hot. After a while, I moved it back to hot, but the air was still blowing cool.

Its in your heater core. My truck had the exact same problem. Basically u have to reverse flush ur heater core so ur water has to go into the return and out ot the inlet hose. pressure that out and u'll be good to go.

I'll Try that this weekend. I've never done this before so a few questions, will there be water in the hosees? Do I need to drain the radiator a little first? the heater core is new too, a few months old.
I already have to drain it to replace the lower radiator hose.

Truthfully the dealer I bought it from did that. But my boss has an identical truck and had same problem and he says just disconnect each hose for the heater core. coolant will flow out. Then just put the hose in the outlet and the other end in ur bucket and clean er out. Boss also says air will work too. Ya a haynes manual is an awesome investment. Good luck.

on my way home today, no matter what i had the controls set to, it was blowing HOT air, even when I turned on the A/C!
Still think it's an issue with the heater core?

sounds like the prob is in the dash. i don't know if it's vacuum operated or cable but i think there is a door in there that moves according to the temp setting. it could be getting stuck.

I pulled the control until out yesterday, all of the hoses are connected. Yes, it is vaccuum operated. Any idea on where the door is located at? I only took the dash off to get to the control unit.
any additional help is much appreciated!
