More is better. They will stay in with as little as 20 psi. But 120 psi will hold a lot better.

vern im swapping cams@valve springs. every time anyone i know thats done valve springs had the shop do it for them becouse they were having the heads redone. and i talked to a guy who did a ford torino 429 and he said he pumped his up to 160 psi on a old pump and as soon as he released the spring the air came out. he said he dosn't know what happend? not a big problem for him he had been in that motor more than the oil. thats actually a sad story he redid the whole motor and before he got to break the motor in someone totalled it.
but anyway thanks ill pump it up to about 150 and that should be good. and if the valve falls down ill get a magnet and a little flashlight and pull it back up.. yeah right huh.. thanks for the help i really would like to not pull the heads off but i just dont know how sinsitive the valve will be with 150psi. thanks again
