Subject: How to Remove Bed Liner IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 Dakota with a drop-in bed liner that is under-rail. I would like to remove this liner to clean the bed and to assess the condition of the bed.
It appears that the liner just "snaps" in under the rails, not attached anywhere via screws. So, it looks like I would have to pry it out. However, I am afraid that this will scratch my rails.
Any suggestions as to the proper removal procedure?
Thanks,
Phillip

Message: In general a drop in liner just slides in under the rails. Most installations are held in position with a few sheet metal screws so look for a few screws, remove them then the liner should just slide right out.

Message: On mine, there are no screws. It just slides up under the side rails and over the rail behind the cab. The best way that I found to remove it is to lift up in the middle which will allow the side to come out and then you just need to work it back and forth to get it off the top rail. It is definately easier with more than one person, but doable by yourself. I wouldn't use any sort of tools to pry it out because you may end up scratching the paint. It's a pain, but can be done.
