I have a 99 Dak w/48,000 mi. About six months ago I replaced the cam and lifters with a new Mopar R/T cam, I also had already installed Crower 1.6 RR's. I adjusted the valve lash according to the Mopar instruction sheet with the cam, and everything was cool. Approx. three months later I started getting a lot of valve clatter on start up and it sounded like atleast two lifters would not quiet down.
At the same time I parked the truck for the winter, and when I got around to it I adjusted the valves two more times once the Mopar reccomended way and once the Crower way. Both times I still have the same results, noisey lifters. I have noticed when adjusting there are three valves that do not offer any resistance when setting the lash, they are all on the same side, 1 exhaust and two intakes. This is where the clatter is comming from.
Any clues ? My thoughts are that I have three bad lifters, seems strange but what else.?
