I OWEN A 2003 Q/C AND RECENTLY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR A FRONT END NOISE(KNOCKING SOUND )HE STATED THAT I NEED NEW FRONT SWAY BAR BUSHINGS AND A UPPER RIGHT BALL JOINT.IT WILL COST ME A 186.00 FOR THE BALL JOINT AND 165.00 FOR THE BUSHINGS.THE DEALER STATES THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED DO TO THE TRUCK MILLAGE 36,442.ANY WAY AROUND THIS WARRANTY? THANKS

The only way around high prices at a dealership is to complain, complain, complain to the service manager. When I worked at a Dodge dealer there were many times that the service manager nocked the price down. He only did that if the customer had been to that dealer mulitple times (out of waranty) and paid with no complaints. Well help that helps. Kenny

$165 is a little steep for the sway bar bushings. You could do those yourself in less than an hour. The bushing sell for about $12.00 a set. I did my own on my 2002 QC, it took me 45 minutes. As far as the ball joint is concerned I think I would push the issue of the 10 year , 100,000 mile warranty they were offering to the other dakota's that were not covered under the replacement recall.

The balljoint re-call should take care of BOTH
left and right upper ball joints, jsv103. And
total free to boot!
As far as the sway bar bushings, do it yourself
or have a friend help you. Don't let the
stealerships rob you blind!

I CALLED THE 1800 NUMBER FOR DODGE AND THEY CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND MADE ARRANGEMENTS WITH DEALER TO TAKE CARE OF THE WHOLE BILL.I WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY A DIME.THANKS FOR ALL THE GOOD INFO.

I had my 2000 Quad Cab in for a instpection 2-14-05 on the upper ball joints. I was informed that Dodge released a bullentin to the dealers to replace even the 2 wheel drive upper ball joints. The dealer replaced the upper today at no cost to me.
All the phone calls and complanits paid off.
Keep the emails and phone calls to Dodge going they will listen.
