I am going to get a trailer hitch for my 03 QC 4.7L

I was wondering should I go with the facotry hitch or should I go with aftermarket? also how hard are they to install.

I went with a non dealer install on my '95 because of cost. I picked up a curt from TSC. At least the one I bought it at in NC installs any one they sell for $25.

installation is simple, done it on a few different trucks. Some models you have to drill all of the holes to mount the hitch to on the frame, on others, you have only have to drill a couple holes and use existing ones (like for bumper assembly).

the wiring kits usually just connect in at the tail lights. simply unplug the lights from the harnes and plug in the extension for the trailer lights.

DIY has a bit on their website on how to install one. I've been seeing advertisements for it on TV.

i purchased directly from my dealer and i believe it was a class 5. It was rated for more wieght then the u haul ones i priced out. Also only paid about 30 bucks more. When it comes down to it i would go the factory route. i didnt drill a single hole, it doesnt hang below and was a perfect fit. install was literally under 10 minutes and 2 beers

Check www.summitracing.com Thats where I got mine.
Install was cake, took about 45 min including the trailer wiring. The only part of the reciever that you could see was where the hitch went, the rest was concealed.

I just ordered mine from these guys last week, installed it myself in abour 20 minutes. Real easy, remove two bolts and install six bolts, no drilling. I have an 04 CC. Quick fast service too, ordered it late Wed night and UPS delivered Fri morning. Got a class 3 with wire harness, draw bar and a ball for $190 (free shipping)

I payed about $120 for an aftermarket class 5 receiver hitch and OEM style wiring harness from Trailer Tech, local trailer supply house. Installation was as easy as removing one bolt and installing 4 others. Wally World had a nice Reese ball/drop hitch/pin combo for $20

Here's a cool little trick. Take an Exacto knife and cut the hole next to the license plate (for spare tire release) into an upside pear shape, then you can force the 4 pole wiring harness through the hole and it won't fall back out. I left 1' of slack in the harness so I can pull it out for use and then push it back in when not used. Better than having the thing dangling and getting ground up on the road ;-)
