I can't believe how hard it is to find a "decent" rear "Sport" bumper...
The dealer wants $595 for one new and my local junkyards don't have any (I guess they don't "total" too many Daks with front end collisions).
To get an "aftermarket" bumper it is gonna cost at least $180... plus I don't know how "quality" it is compared to factory original and the listings on Ebay are either "scratched and rusty" or just as expensive as buying one "aftermarket".
What should I do? Any ideas out there?

Well - I think $180 is a good price. If you are seeking less money than that, you're gonna get stuck with a $100 OEM bumper which is not what you are seeking. If it looks good at $180, I would take it. That is a steal if you ask me.

Well... actually what I am seeking is the "black steel" portion of my original rear bumper...
From what I have seen of the aftermarket bumpers, they don't match the originals, but they "approximate" the look of the original, however if that becomes my last option I could take it.. but I just wanna know if there are any other options.

I got a brand new $560 bumper after someone anonymously rear ended me... to the tune of $1600. I paid the $300 deductible and got the bumper, new paint job on the back left panel and a new undercoat. Kinda helped me get over how pi$$$ed I was when I first saw the rear end all pushed in. Now, if only something would happen to my faded, peeling front bumper (just kidding, really)

Post this in the Sir Michaels Roll Pan Group Buy. Maybe someone that is getting the roll pan will sell you their bumper. Just a thought.

Hmmmm... 2001? Is that bumper the same as on 97 through 2000?
(I know that they made several changes in the 2001 model year, but I don't know if the bumper was one of them)

Well... I'm in Central Indiana (Indianapolis), so picking it up is definitely not an option...
BTW, $25 difference plus shipping for not picking it up in person? Is that the "handling and packing materials" charge? (Honestly, I was trying to keep this purchase in the $150 range...especially since that is what these have been going for shipped on Ebay.)
How much is shipping something like that to Indianapolis anyways... most listings I have seen were in the $20 to $30 range.
BTW, what color are the painted panels on your bumpers? My truck is Deep Amethyst, but I think that color was discontinued in '99 (not sure) however my current panels are still good, so color is not a "deal breaker".
Also... do you have pics of the bumpers?

I've got the rear bumper on my truck - panels are graphite color. Has a small gash/nick in it,,not serious,,,not noticble. I'd take $125 too,,if anyone is interested. It's pretty heavy,,I imagine shipping would be pretty expensive.
I live in the Austin TX area - if somone is close I wouldn't mind meeting them.
Just throw'n it out there.

I have a spare bumper sitting in the driveway right now for my 2001 Dak Sport in Silver. I has a slight bend where the towing ball goes cause the guy who had it before me apparently tried to tow something too large. I can get pictures for whomever wants it if they email me. It's not the best, but it's not terrible. Comes with a free ball too cause I can't get it off there. I'd be willing to take $100 plus shipping due to the bend. Like I said, just drop me and email if you're interested.

I can relate. Tore my bumper in half trying to snatch a steel rod out of the ground. The Ram I traded in did it all the time with no trouble. The bumper is at the local body shop, they think they can fix it???? Anyway, one option is to take your bumper to a "Bumper Exchange". May have a different name where you live. They straighten and re-chrome bumpers and give you a discount for trade-ins. Type "bumper exchange" on your search engine.

Hey Dark Fury. I have a used, but still in good condition 99 sport bumper that i could sell to you. It's red and i could get you some pictures today if you'd like.
I live in AZ, so we'd have to do the whole shipping deal. But i'm willing to part with it for pretty cheap. Around $75+shipping, depending on what you think the quality of it is.
