Subject: headlight switch melting IP: Logged
Message: My frend is haveing hard time with his headlight switch melting he has put 5-6 new ones in and had to put a new connector in with all of tham dose any one know what this could be.

Message: No specifics for you, but in general this is caused by damaged wiring or corroded connectors (including trailer wiring harness, if so equipped). First, I would inspect all possible wiring and connectors for the headlamp switch circuit and clean all ground contacts as you go through it. If you find nothing unusual, then some pinpoint testing on the circuit may be required. With the chance of electrical fire, I would address it immediately.

Message: Tell him to stop pulling the high beam selector arm partially back therefore activatng the highs while the lows are still on therefore lighting the road ahead even more.
I used to do that all the time and when I took mine in to the stealership because my lights would not stay on, I was told that I should not do that even though I had never made mention of ever having done it in the first palce. it was like they read my mind. They pulled the switch assembly and sure enough it was melted.
