I have 29,000 on my 03, 5.9, 4X4 QC. Just checked the fluid in the 46RE and that stuff is as light colored and sweet smelling as the day I checked after I brought it home. My dealer is kind of in an inconvenient location, however, and I was thinking of changing my transfer case fluid and replacing it with Mobil1 ATF which is a dexron/mercon. Every other TC out there uses it! Any thoughts?

I've heard Dexron/Mercon fluids make Dodge transmissions run like sh!t...I can't confirm it, just what I've heard from multiple sources. Do a search and see what you can come up with...i've been up all night and am finally bout to hit the sack or I'd try to find more info on the subject for you.

If you have an NV231 or 242, you should be fine with it (can't imagine what other xfer you would have, my 'kota has a 231). I put AT4+4 in mine only because it was handy.
Our Jeep XJ has a 242 with Valvoline Dexron in it (same as *it's* trans, 'cause I'm lazy), works just great.
