Subject: Goodyear RT/S to MT/R IP: Logged
Message: I may be able to get some Goodyear MT/Rs with only 5k miles on them for cheap. I was planning on getting Bridgestone Revos to replace the POS RT/S tires that are on my 4x4 QC. My biggest complaint on the RT/S tire is the wet and snow traction. I know the MT/R won't be as good as the Revos, but will they be worse than the RT/S. Mud tires typically aren't great at wet or snow packed roads, but can they be worse than the RT/S?

Message: Hey Ted,
Yea, the stock RT/S's do suck, especially when the tread wears more than 1/2 way... I put on a set of Revos about 30,000 miles ago and it's a whole world of difference.
The Revos are great for off-road and normal every-day driving. The only place they lack a bit is in VERY aggressive driving on dry pavement. The side walls are a bit soft and the truck feels "mushy" under abrupt turning. Other than that, they're great!
I don't know too much about the MT/Rs, but they've got loads of reviews on www.tirerack.com where u might be able to find out a bit more info...

Message: Thanks for the input FloriDak. I have been looking at the Tirerack website. It is just hard to make conclusions when you are comparing tires in different catagories.

Message: Just my opinion but I think all Goodyear tires suck. I've never had a set on a vehicle that were any damn good.
Don't go cheap on tires. They're probably one of the most important safety features on your vehicle.
