Are you guys getting tired of this. A brilliant and honorable man lost his life in a crash and the underlying causes are just being finalized with the so called "experts."

Plain and simple, 185 mph crash will kill anyone. Its amazing more racers are still alive and kicking today. Sure they have safety meausures, but serisouly. Racing is NOT safe and everyone who races knows that. I drag race my motorcycle. Although I only enter the traps at 125 mph, there is potential for danger. Helmet, leathers and all, I still could be killed. My family knows that, my girlfriends knows that, and I know that. Its a risk and that is half of the fun.

They need to stop spreading the blame and worrying how he passed on. Belt, headwhip or whatever, we have lost a hero & icon to friends, father, husband, and friend to those close to him.

Bill Simpson resigned from this mess. How could his company be responsible for a crash at 185. I would rather not survive something like that than go thru painful therapy, nightmares, and potentially never be the same. Ernie Irvan felt that fate. After his wreck at MIS, he never "fully" recovered. I read that his friends and family said he went from a warm loving man to a complete jerk, probably due to brain damage.

I am a Ford fan experiment with my first Dodge. There are things I like (V8, styling...) and things I don't (ride quality, interior quality, etc). Point is, I follow the Ford race teams and never cared for Earnhardt. I wished retirement, but not death to end his career. His son will be the next icon. Still a Ford fan, but definitely a Earnhardt Jr. and BUD beer fan.

Sorry for the long posts, but pointing fingers is really annoying me. He lost his life in a bad wreck and nothing could have saved him or prevented that other than staying off the track, which we know any racer will never do.

And what is wrong with us southern yahooos?

Since this is a DODGE site, and I am a Dodge fan, I hope to see Bill Elliot and Sterling Marlin clean the track tomorrow. I just wish Dale was still here to see their back bumper cross the finish line ahead of him.

It's funny how people mistake brand loyalty with the driver's capability.

Dale Earnhardt was one of the greatest Nascar drivers out there. Don't care who you rooted for...he was always talked about in any forum.

Even though I loved to hate him (in the races...that's all), he's still #1 in my book.

Yeah, He was the guy I loved to hate. As a driver. Never want to see anyone loose their life. Heard he was a good father and family man though. I will give credit where credit is due. He was a good driver. I just didnt like him on the track. Its not the same anymore cause I dont have my "bad guy" to root against.

I think that earnhardt took his seat belt of so he could look behind him and block. Because his crash wasnt that bad and the chances of his belt breaking are low and sound fishy.

Best driver ever. I belive he started on a dodge.

Earnhardt died doing what he did best... racing w/ controversy. It was sad, but at least it was painless...except for Kenny shcrader who may never be the same. R.I.P.

Well I made a little joke to smooth over Billybob's statement, but I am trying to put it behind me and move on also. I agree with most of what has been said. Old Dale did some things that were a little questionable on the track but he was possibly the best driver ever. Even if he wasn't, he made many races exciting. I never met him personally but I miss him like I did know him. NASCAR races isn't as much fun right now for me. Jeff Gordon is great but not as exciting. There are others that are pretty darned good but it just isn't the same.:(

Billybob, I got your "kid" right here. Scratch between your legs to find it. I wasn't trash talking the big "E" or nascar, I simply stated I was growing tired from hearing who is blaming who for the true cause of death, a racing accident. They happen.

He's wasn't the dirties guy in nascar, simply the best.
