I recently bought an '04 SLT CC 4X4. It does not have the under hood pad. Well, we've had some bad winter weather here in Ohio, and I noticed that I had salt spray under my hood on my engine and the bottom of my hood too! I never had this happen on my '98 and '00 Dakotas.
I found out that the rubber stip seal at the leading edge of the hood seals mostly on the radiator core support, but where the botton of the hood is sculpted and braced,it doesn't seal at all! This is what's letting in all of the road spray. My question is if I order an under the hood pad, will it allow the rubber strip to seal, or do I need to make some "home made" weather striping?
