Subject: 1999 5.2 Automatic tranny problems IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota with an automatic transmission and the 5.2 liter engine. The truck has 145,000 miles. I've changed the exhaust from the manifold back with 3 inch pipe and a high flow cat. It also has an aftermarket air intake and a Helux throttle body spacer. Currently the tranny is not shifting out of second gear from time to time. I've had a shop look at it already and nothing came up on the codes. Nothing happens with the gauges when the problem occurs. The problem happens whether the truck is warm or cold and sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Letting of the gas causes it to shift sometimes but other times getting on it hard causes it to shift. Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Message: Maight be your collection magnet is full and shorting out your speed sensor. I had the same problem a while back. Get all new fluid and have them get all of the metal off the magnet.
