Message: I've got the same truck. 03 4X4 4.7
Took it to the snow a few weeks back when Flagstaff got the 12" +.
Had the ATV and some sleds in the bed and the family. The truck has done pretty good and seemed a little better this time with my new tires.
Two weeks later it's 70~80 degrees out every day here in Phoenix. Already have to run with the windows down, or run the A/C.

Message: I got to see how my Dak does in snow yesterday when an alberta clipper hit the red river region of North Dakota. It's nice being able to blast through drifts that would stop my '96 T-bird dead. And that's even before I engage 4wd. I don't know how I got through 6 winters in the Dakotas with that thing...

Message: I have 160 pounds of sand in my bed and it doesnt do much for me, (but im a 17 year old kid who likes sliding around in the snow hehe). My 00 4x4 cc works great in the snow, and I dont do stupid stuff unless im somewhere in a open area like a couldasack or a parking lot w/o light poles.

Message: DakotaSport, take that sand out...drive it for a bit in the snow and put it back in. You'll notice a helluva difference...lol. Good idea bout the crazy driving...I'm a year older than you and I managed to remove a Do Not Enter sign at my highschool 2 years ago. Knocked that sucker clear out of the ground and launched it about 20 feet down the road. Cost me $1500 to fix the Dak after that one.

Message: I dunno how much sand makes a difference with a 4x4...mine's just a 4x2 so it makes a HUGE difference although I generally don't drive with anything in the bed. When sandbags freeze and decide to slide they can do a lot more harm than good so I either stay at home or pray I don't get stuck... with the Bridestone Dueler tires it's not TOO horrible in the snow, although getting her moving can be a PIA at times.
