 Subject: question about ball joints

hi i have a 2002 dak qc 4WD 4.7V8. tonite i droped my truck off at the dealer for the ball joint recall. being a fairly mechanically oriented guy i asked the service writer if they could save my old ball joints just so i could have a look at them. he said that he couldnt because they have to send them to chrysler immediatly and that he couldnt risk me "tainting them" i dont know if he was just an ass or if this was really true. also when they replace the ball joints will the exterior of the suspension look new or is the ball joint just an internal part? thanks a lot

The rule of thumb is: any part being replaced by DC is to be returned to DC for inspection. BUT, I am certain that does NOT apply to this recall. The advisor may be quoting the rule of thumb (erring on the side of caution) without verifying if it applies this time. Or he could just be a dumbazz.
