 Subject: Clear Coat Problems

I have a 2004 Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 with 6k miles. Yesterday I noticed that the clear coat has cracked and is peeling where the side panel meets one of the wheel flares.
Anyone else have a similar problem?

haven't had the problem but, it should be under warranty. maybe it was wrecked and repainted before you bought it? i have seen a dealer in my town fix a damaged new truck and sell it without telling the customer a thing.

Actually it is standard practice in the industry
to repair vehicles that were damaged in shipping
and then sell them as new. I know of a Porsche
and a Mitsubishi where the owners found out later
that their cars had been partially repainted by
the dealer.
I find that the clear coat on my 04 is soft and
scratches very easily which is not good for a
4x4.
