Subject: stalled twice and only has 22,00 miles IP: Logged
Message: 2001 Dodge Dakota SLT 4x4 V6 3.9L Auto
Just bought car used from very reputable dealership with 20,500 miles. Car now has 22,900 miles and has stalled twice when completely warmed up, first time after just pulled into parking spot and still in drive, second time and one month later I just put into drive and stalled again. After the first time I added STP dry gas and fuel injector cleaner sense car had sat on lot for 7-8 weeks. I had Mobil 87 octane during first stall and Mobil 89 octane during second stall. What would cause a truck with low mileage in beautiful condition to do this? Timing off? Maybe the original spark plugs need to be replaced? The owner’s manual recommends 87 octane fuel but I get snappier acceleration with 89 octanes. Truck also seems to shift to soon but I was driving a 4 cylinder 5 speed just before I bought this truck.
