Message: Just wanted to make a positive post...considering mostly what we see here is all negative.
I have 2000 Dak 4x4 QC 5.9 with over 50K and have had absolutly NO problems with this truck. Not a single problem...I just get up every morning get in my truck and go to and from work....this truck has never let me down...I've done some light towing and 4-wheeling with it and still not a single problem...whenever we to go on a long road trip, we take the truck, why you ask..cause we know its relaible and wont get us stranded...not only does this truck look great but it runs great...all I've ever done to this truck is routine maintenance. There are 2 things I know for sure..I gotta pay taxes and my Daks gonna get me where I need to go.
Lets here more positive stories about our Daks...

Message: I can't say I have had no problems with my 02 4x4
sport, 5.9dak.
If it was not for DC's faulty ball joints and
warped rotors, I'd have to say it's been a trouble
free truck, so far.

Message: I have basicly the same truck you do, except a 2001. At60K miles, I had the rear diff rebuilt because the carrier bearing died. That's a very common problem with all Dodge trucks, big and small. Other than that, trouble free at 63K miles. Routine maint only. Still on original pads and rotors, ball joints are good. same gas mileage as it always has been, no oil burning.
Long trips are always in the truck - very comfortable, goes anywhere, blizzards are not a problem. Never lets me down.

Message: 2000 R/T, orig. ball joints, rotors and pads., belt, etc, etc. Still had 2 of the orig. tires until this past summer(now all have been replaced due to lead foot syndrome).
Love the truck, light towing, many highway and city miles, too (80,000 kms). Still get loads of compliments, even though it's a few yrs old now.
I'm sure others have had good experiences too.

Message: Well, I've had my 99slt club cab 4 x 4 w/5.2 for about 3 months only. It has 91,000 miles now and I did have a some problems. ie fog lights didn't work, went to autozone and got a new headlight switch for $36. and that fixed that problem. Then got a engine light that ended up with code for misfire on 6. Put a new dist cap/rotor, plug wires and plugs (all plugs had a gap of .070 so I'm not sure how long they had been there), rotor looked burned too. She runs like brand new now. And I gotta say that I have been a Chevy man for a long time (I have 3 El Caminos, a 78, a 87 and a 59, but I do love this Dak.

Message: I've had 4 Dodge trucks since 1977, the first three had 200K miles or more, my current '01 has 104K. The '92 5.2 RC I had was a jewel: 217K until it was "killed" by a '95 T-Bird. Original engine/trans/rear end. Timing chain/distributor gear/belly pan gasket at 50K under warranty. The original catalytic converter was replaced at 140K, and Mopar Performance PCM when the original had "seizures" at 160K. Whenever I wanted to dust somebody...they got dusted. Old Blue was the cheapest cost-per-mile vehicle I ever owned, even at 17.5 mpg. I wanted the same feeling as the '92 when I had to find a new Dak Sept.8,2001 (uh-huh!). RC R/T's were impossible to find at the time locally, so from a performance/mpg standpoint I went for a RC 4.7 5-speed 3:92 LSD. I found my new "baby" on www.dodge.com 100 miles from home. To get to 104K, Mobil1/Amsoil(rearend)/K&N drop-in/Bosch 4418 have done their part. The rotors and drums were turned at 75K, the rear pads replaced, front pads still on (350lb load with shell and cargo). A rear pinion seal replaced, and a brake line at the left upper control arm (3" drop arms) are the ONLY problems. Greasable MOOG uppers (my expense, natch) will replace the still original ball joints someday. I got my 100K warranty ball joint warranty letter from D-C last week!LOL It reminded me of the 3YR/36K I got pre-9/11; two weeks later it was 7YR/100K... Not that I needed it; I DID NOT need it! Now that the '05's are so ugly, I'm going to wear this Dak out...
