costco only sells gas, not everything that other gas stations sell. unless you go inside the warehouse. as for sam's club, they dont sell gas at all. but yea, costco gas really is cheaper by a lot.

I guess my point was not whether or not you belong to Sam's or COSTCO, but more of the fact that I know of a prepaid gas card membership where you can save $185/yr on gas or whatever your fav gas station sells. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm interested. I read on the website that the standard membership (no sales involved) costs $295 bucks. After that you can buy a pre-paid gas card worth $200 for $160 out of your pocket each month. The card is good for 6 months and you can only purchase another card monthly.
The question I have: Do gas stations such as Chevron, Texaco, and the like take American Express at their counters? I live in Renton, Washington.

Actually, the company is in the process of switching to MasterCard, so the card should be accepted at any station that accepts MC. But to answer your question, Yes most stations you mentioned do accept Amex. E-mail me if you need any further assistance.

Hmmm So you pay $295 a year, then pay $160 for each card, and the card gives you $200 worth of gas. Thats $40 "free". You need to buy 7.3 of these cards within one year to make your money back.
Also the gas card has to be used within 6 months, no biggie most every one spends $200 in gas in 6 months
But look what it takes to get you $295 back...
It Takes at least one card every 1 and 1/2 months in a one year period. I probably dont spend $200 in a month for gas. For Six Weeks that $33.33 a week's worth of gas. My Dakota takes about $18 a week and my wife's car takes $12.00 every two weeks. That what this company is counting on. They figure you would only buy one card every two to three months that means you've only saved $160 to $240 in a year, but paid them $295.
This would work great for some one with three vehicals in use all the time, or a small busines.
I think this card would not save you money on gas, it would only get you to spend more.
Here is a better idea Take $300 Plus $160 * 6 = $1260 Pay an extra payment on your house mortgage and you will have your house paid of in 1/2 the time. Buy gas the normal way every one else does and in 15 or fewer years have a $0 mortgage payment.

The reason they recommend that you NOT use it at the pump is that when you get an authorization at the pump, it is usually for between $35 and $50. If you don't have that remaining on your card, it will get denied. If you go inside, that will not happen if you tell them how much gas you want. As long as you have over $50 remaining, you can use it at the pump. As far as the amount of gas you use, do you ever buy anything else at the gas station? Soda, beer, cigarettes, tune-ups, tires, propane, snacks, ice, etc. You can use the card for ANYTHING the gas station sells.
Your better idea is a good one, but assuming you buy gas anyway, a $185/yr savings on a $295 investment, is a 62.7% return on your money. That's 8-10 times better than the interest rate you're paying on your mortgage. Paying off your mortgage early is a sure return of 4-6% on your investment, but may not be the best return you can get for your money.

I dont buy things from inside the gas stations, mark things up way too much to buy from them.. With the exception of sodas and things like that. This would be a good deal for some one who is already spending $200 a month on gas, but I only spend about $90 a month. So it would take me two months to use one card and at that rate I would have only bought 6 cards in a 12 month period which would save me $240, but like I said I would have had to pay $295. This may work for some...
As for the second part of this bussiness multi-level marketing only makes money for the few at the top. Good luck with your quest.

I have seen some grocery stores installing gas pumps in their parking lots for their customers...what is that all about? Who came up with that idea? Why?
I have noticed the prices to be a few pennies cheaper and stuff, but gas? groceries? Maybe that will make a good trend and combo.

I found a better opportunity! For only $199 for the membership I get to buy up to 12 $200 cards for $158 per card. Better price for membership, better price on the card and better compensation
pay out.
