Subject: Hypertech Programmer III MALFUNCTION! IP: Logged
Message: I was driving with my hypertech chip on the truck when I made a dumb mistake and let the truck idle for about 20 minutes with the headlights on during which time the battery drained and the truck for whatever reason stalled. When this happened the computer got all messed up and began idling too low and stalling repetivily.
So, I tried running the programmer again to straighten it about because when this happened before that worked fine, but now my programmer says "vehicle mismatch" claiming that the VIN of my truck doesn't match the VIN of the last vehicle programmed even though MY TRUCK is the last vehicle programmed.
You may know that these programmers do not allow you to use them on more than one vehicle at a time. You must take the original vehicle back to stock and then program a new vehicle.
So, my truck doesn't idle correctly and I can't reprogram, plus my chip is worthless. Tech support says it is out of warranty. I did however, disconnect and reconnect the negative terminal on the battery which seems to have reset the PCM and now it idles pretty good.
ANY IDEAS?
