Subject: Haynes manual discrepancies IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone come across some major discrepancies in their haynes manual? I went to change a lock cylinder today, the manual gave the basics of taking off the interior door parts, and then said to remove two screws or bolts to remove the door handle.... when I got in there the door handle was held on by some spring bar contraption that I had two remove by taking off a plastic nut, which I could barely get to because the window was almost blocking it completely. I'm glad I didn't have to completely remove the handle as I would have had to remove the glass too!
My complaint is just that I use the manual to give me hints, or to let me know about how long or hard of a job I have ahead of me. this time they where way off.
also, anyone know of a different or bette manual to use? or hhas anyone tried alldata subscription?

Message: Got my 2004 manual in CD format on ebay for $10.
Here's a link. I would have narrowed it down a bit, but you like to keep your vehicle year a secret.

Message: It may have made a mess, but it works, thanks for the link, I have a 94, I did find one in the list that fits. I should grab it, since this is the second time the haynes book didn't come close to my truck

Haven't located dash/instrument panel removal yet.
Do you know where they hid it?

Message: I first bought a Haynes manual for my truck in 93. It was a joke. Half of the stuff in it was wrong. I ordered the fact. manual. Much better.

Message: If you really look at the Haynes manual half the stuff in the Dakota book is Cheby stuff. Then if you want to rebuild your trans they tell you that you are not able to do somthing that complicated so just take it out and give it to someone that is qualified. I don't think they are qualified to print a service manual when they refer to a Cheby head in a Dodge manual. Dan
