Message: Heater fan stopped working completely. Tried resistor block, that did not help. Took motor out and put leads direct to battery, motor works that way. Two wires to motor plug tests OK with voltmeter. What else is there if there is power to plug and motor works hooked direct?

Message: Hey, I just bought a 01 5.9 R/T and The previous owner had a brand new resistor.. I think it is (Underneath the passenger foot area type thing)Anyways I switched it out because he said I needed to, said something about heat only working when the fan speed is on high. Anyways I changed it out but.... the passenger side fans will blow air. But the driver side will not, nothing comes out. What could be the cause of this? Fan dead?

Message: I have a 96 Dakota, the plug harness going into the heater speed control unit (under the hood, on firewall, passenger side)had been getting so hot it was melting the plastic on the harness. I replaced the speed control unit, and even removed the plastic harness and put new ends on the wires, plugging them into the unit individually so as to stay cooler, but some of the 7 wires are still getting so hot you can't touch them when the fan has been running. Any ideas fellas?

Message: My 94 dakota also had a dead heater fan. I thought it was a connection problem because the fan suddenly started working for a day, then stopped again.
The problem was the FSR on the firewall. I merely took it out and found that the internal crimp connections had rusted away. There were open connection points on the same buss bar, so I just reinserted the resistors. Now my fan has all four speeds again.
