Message: the tranny tunnel in them things is designed to only fit a smaller tranny as the bigger ones were made for the big block engines and the Daks are designed to have only small blocks in them as the big blocks were out of production before the Daks were ever on the drawing board. You will have to do some fender well work as well just to get the big block in it. I know what a Torqueflite is but I am not sure of what you speak, I never heard of a Tork Flite before.

Message: You might want to do a search on this site for posts by "IntenseDak39". I don't think he needed to cut the firewall.

Message: forget what that F-ing morron "nope" said. If you got a 46RE then don't worry about going to a 3 speed 727 (36RE) trannsmission. What you got is a decended of the tourqe flite(36RH with a extra gear) and it was built to handle the tourqe of a 488 cid V10. So keep what you got.
And even if you did repalce the tranny its the same size. even the 48RE is the same size as the 36RH or 46RH/RE

Message: Big block requires a tranny with different bell housing than what's behind a small block. Not interchangable.

Message: That would be a valid point; but you also said "so keep what you got" and "And even if you did replace the tranny" - rather misleading with out the added clarification.

Message: you do not need to cut anything to get a big block and tranny in the truck. Hell... for a 94 dakota, www.engine-swaps.com has a package that allows it to bolt in.
good luck with the swap.
