not a dakota specific question, but my driver door lock(the part I put the key in) doesn't work. does any one have any recomendations? can these things be fixed? or do I need to replace it and have a different key?

if key doesn't turn try wd 40
if key turns but doesn't unlock try looking inside door panel linkage might have come loose
if lock needs to be replace a locksmith can rekey lock to same as others.

thanks, I didn't know if a lock could be changed to mastch the others, I tried lubricating it, it won't budge... I saw a few matched key/ignition sets, but I can't find one for the dakota, I will probably just buy an new lock and then have it matched.

Do you have electric door locks??? If so-- does that work? If NOT-- the problem is the lock mechanism, not the key part. I sell the new mechanisms for $75 shipped.

I have electric locks, but i can't even budge the key. Thanks for the offer, but I went to a locksmith today, they had the lock mechanism, and they will match it to my key
