just purchased a 03 QC 4x4. heard there was a recall on ball joints. checked dodge site with my vin#, says no recall. i think truck was built in 5/ 03. anybody know ?

If built after 12/31/02 (I think that's the right date), then it's excluded.

I wouldn't trust the information on dodge's web site.
I received a recall notice for my wiper motor but when you check my vin on their web site it says my dakota was not recalled.

Post your VIN here and I can confirm for you if you are still unsure. Also, one thing I ran into a few times at the dealership...owners getting a recall notice from a previously owned DC vehicle then assuming it is for a currently owned vehicle. I think (but am not 100% sure) that recall notices no longer include the applicable VIN. I had a customer a few days ago to start an argument with me about this. They said their recall notice was for their 2004 Dakota ball joints, even though it states the specific year models. It took 15 minutes to prove that it was for a 2001 Dakota they traded in for the 2004.

Mine was also built in 5/03... why is it excluded since it's built after 12-31-02 (I verified this exclusion on the NHTSA site)? Was there a design or vendor change after that? I thought there was a slight design change, but not until Nov. 03...

hmm... which site should I look up my vin?
I bought mine in the spring/early summer of 2003
Too late to go look in my door for the date built. But I am pretty sure it is in 2003
