Message: My left brake light is not working. Now when I signal to turn left my hazards come on. Is this the dakota's way of telling me the brake light is burnt out? Second question, how do I get the cover off the tail light. I noticed there is torx screw on the inside when the tail gate is down. I figure, unscrew that and the cover should off.

Message: Depending on year and model of your secret vehicle, covers may or may not come off.
Loosen the screw a turn or so and see if the tail light assembly starts to rattle in its cage. If so, that's the right screw. Might be two of them.
Could be the light socket is bayonet style and removable from the rear of the assembly.
Don't know, 'cause your vehicle is such a secret.
