 Subject: 4x4 Problem

I had my 04 dak 4x4 in snow for the first time today and if performed extremely well. But, for some reason when I shifted from 4hi to 2wd the indicator light would go from 4hi to 2wd but the truck would stay in 4wd for a considerable amount of time after I shifted. . The indicator light was not blinking which indicates to me the truck should have imediately been in 2wd.
Does anyone know if this is normal or has anyone had a similar experience. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
