I have a 95 dodge dakota sport 2.5l. It would not start and was able to trouble shoot back to the fuel pump. I bought a new pump(160$) dropped the tank(not fun) replaced the pump no problems. the truck starts and runs fine now but now the fuel gage always reads between full and 3/4. did I miss something. any help would be appreciated.
thanks,

I had the same problem when I changed the fuel pump om my 95 Dakota/3.9. I discovered when I installed the new pump I had the float assembly pointing towards the driveshaft. Dropped the tank, turned the pump assembly towards the front of the truck and my problem was solved. Someone else had also told me that the first time you fill up your tank after the pump replacement, be sure and leave the ignition switch on (not running) to allow the float assembly to reset itself.
