Subject: Oil Pressure IP: Logged
Message: Well had the ol' oil pressure problem. You know lack of pressure at idle and then no oil pressure at times. Yeah that one. Finnally ran the engine cleaner though, big mistake! Should of left all that sludge to hold it all togther. She died on me on the highway. Lack of power then no power.. heh.. The sludge was bubbling like magma.
So do I attempt to rebuild or do I go all out and do a swap to the 360?

Message: Find a shop that offers the billstein engine flush. They run a cleaner solution through. I know pepboys here in the atlanta area has them - I've been wondering how well it works. Might be able to just clean it. Are you sure there is damage inside? I had a friend that got lucky like that in a car once.

Message: Well the 360 ci magnum gets you 300 hp...or more. Cost is about $3600 plus tb, pcm, harness, pulleys, accessories, suitable radiator if needed, belt(s), mounts, hardware, gages if needed (yeah, your inst cluster may not hook up to the pcm depending on what year your truck is). Possibly also need torque converter. What is the cost to do a bottom end rebuild? about $1000? You can find the heads complete to swap out fairly reasonable, but the top end rebuild is about $800.
OK, so, EVERYBODY: change the oil religiously at about 3000 to 4000 miles intervals, and when the pressure seems to drop off, change the oil again and use the bigger 318 filter. Use 10w30 like the engine was designed to use. Check the oil level every fill-up, and fix leaks.

Still not sure what to do.. Ill pop up a website and do some step by pictures when I do decide to do something. So keep the info flowing and happy driving .. or soemthing like that..
