I wasn't really surprised at his assessment when I originally went to his garage to have the wheel alignment done, since my Dakota was steering well to the right. He said it isn't unsafe at this point, but it certainly "needs to be replaced."

I called the dealership in Southern California about my situation and they had me send them the vehicle ID number and said they were going to order the parts and let me know when they arrive.

BTW, I own a 4x2. What was a bit surprising to me was that the 4x2 wasn't mentioned when DaimlerChrysler announced the recall.

Anyone are able to get their dealer to order parts for their 4x2 yet?

Your dealer made a choice to order something for you after you told them you were spending money at another shop for something they could do? They ordered these parts for you, apparently at no charge, for a concern that they have not yet verified?
What you have is a dealership doing you a favor. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

If I remember the statement correctly, the 4x2's are not covered by the recall. That means they would not be replaced if they were still good. However, they are covered under an extended warrenty. Which means they will be replaced for free, but only if they are bad. And that only covers the upppers, not lowers.

There are multiple copies of the press release posted on this board.
