Message: Ok, now we got DaimlerChrysler to recall "Some" vehicles, mostly the 4x4 but what about the others 2 wheel drives, we get and extended
warranty for 10yrs and 100,000 miles. Who are they fooling !!! Check out Rock Auto for the upper ball joints and you will see that the
4x4 and the 2 wheel drive uses the same upper
ball joint parts. I guess we will have to pressure
the NHTSA to include the 2 wheel drive.I have a 2002 Dakota and had the upper driver side ball joint replaced under warranty before 28,000 miles and I'm sure there are a lot of you that has 2 wheel drive vehicles that have all ready replaced yours. We should contact the NHTSA and DaimlerChrysler and keep complaining untill we are "All" included. This is just the beginning !!!

Message: Personally, I prefer the 10 yr warranty. If they are going to be replaced with the same ball joint with which they were originaly built, then that means it's replaced as many times as it fails in that period. A recall is generally a one-time repair or replacement.

Message: Seems to make sense. I wonder if they would say warranty only applies to the original ball joints, not to upgraded replacement ones ? Time will tell.

Message: Kowalski
Most likely, any extended warranty will apply to OEM DC or Mopar replacement parts. If upgrades were done with aftermarket parts, they should still reimburse with proper documentation, but any further warranty on the product is up to the part manufacturer.

Message: That I understand; what I'm questioning is wether DC will replace their own parts once they've already made a warranty repair with their upgraded parts in a vehicle. That hasn't been specifically addressed yet; companies are great at burying stuff like that in the fine print. Like I said, time will tell.
