Hi, new here, thinking about buying a '94 for my son. It is a standard cab, V6, auto, 2 wheel drive. Its in excelant condition. Only 60,000 miles and they are asking $3000. Is this a good deal? No trany work has been done but, it works fine. Are there any major problems to look for? Is it true they have bad tranys?
Thanks for any advice!

My '95 CC 4x4 with 3.9 V6 auto has not yet had any transmission problems. I change the fluid and filter at the recomended intervals. Here is a list of issues I've had with mine (now has 147k miles):

fuel gauge stopped twice
sticking lifters (tranny fluid in oil fixed)
timing chain
new radiator
water pump
selt belt broke (driver side receiver)
compressor and accumulator
maybe a few other things that have escaped my mind right not, but nothing wrong with the internal workings of the engine.

otherwise the usual maintenance
oil, air filter, fuel filter, vbelt, oxygen sensors, radiator, diff, brakes, tires, etc

you can check out the value by going to kbb.com (kelly blue book). Input the information (make/model/year/options) and it'll tell you what you can get for trade in, what to expect to pay when selling privately and when buying.

I have a 94 Dakota Sport equipped the same. Bought it new in 94. Just past 101k miles radiator seam let loose. Replaced that and 2 months later the transmission cooked itself. Even with both those things the truck didn't leave me stranded on the side of the road. Was able to drive it home and then to a shop for repairs. This Oct was the first time in 10 years and 118k miles that it failed to start the first time. Had a connector go bad in the wiring harness and it fried the computer. Ended up running a whole new power wire to the new computer and works just fine. Those are the only major problems I have had with mine. Still love the truck.
