Subject: BODY LIFT + Trailer? IP: Logged
Message: Hello I was wondering if I could pull a 5foot trailer with a body lift. I know your not suppose to pull trailers with the bumpers but im only pulling a 5ft trailer with a 324lb quad on the back. Im wondering if it would be ok? I really dont wanna put a hitch on my truck.

Message: Did you Raise your bumper with the lift? If so it is best not to tow off the bumper. A hitch is only about a hundred bucks and a much safer way to go. Hey but its your truck and your call.
My 3 cents worth.

Message: SLTDakota, if you gotta ask that question you must
be a little worried about it.
Play it safe, install a bolt on class five
receiver to the frame and have it over with. You
will also be able to pull your trailor level
using the correct tongue into the receiver and
electric to the trailor lights. The light kits
and very easy to install. Plug and play if you
get a kit from a RV dealer.
Good luck..

Message: I would recommend getting a hitch installed. Any reason you don't want one? I keep one of those dodge logo hitch lights in mine when i'm not towing.
I picked up my receiver at TSC, around $80, they installed for $25, wiring kit was around $15. You can get drop drawbars to lower it to the correct level for the trailer. Right now wal-mart has drawbars on clearance (seen at 3 wal-marts in 2 states). Balls are cheap too.
or...why not get some ramps and carry the quad in the bed?

Message: Depending on the quad it won't fit in the bed...one that light sounds like it should though.
I carry a Yamaha Big Bear 400 4x4 in the bed of mine quite a bit...that's around 450 lbs. I've considered getting a trailer cuz if I'd have to slam on the brakes with it, the bumper is just perfect height to go through my rear window when it slides forward. I'd have to say that even as light as my quad is, there's no way I'd trust pulling a trailer with my bumper...I wouldn't wanna risk bending it.
Just curious but what kind of quad do you have?

Message: Uhh...that quad shouldn't be moving around in your bed. That is what those hooks in each corner of the bed are for...
Just my 2 cents...
