Hello guys, new to the forum I have just bought a 00 CC Sport 4x4 with a 4.7 I am wondering if I have the 3.55 or 3.92 gears, is there a easy way to tell? I don't have all the bs paperwork that you get with a new truck since I bought it used.

I'm not sure about the newer daks, on my '97 if the diff cover has 10 bolts its a 3.55, if it has 12 bolts it's a 3.92.

Underhood should have it, should be a tag on the axle itself, factory window sticker...

On the newer Daks, # of bolts on the dif cover will tell whether you have the 8 1/4 or the stronger 9 1/4 rear, but won't indicate gearing.

As others have said, it should say on the sticker in the glovebox.

I found out that i have the 3.55 gears. Now my question is im getting around 13.5 mpg with a 4.7 with these gears. I heard that one of the two gear ratios sucks more gas than the other. From my knowledge it would be the 3.92 because its a higher gear. Thanks for the help guys.
