Subject: Upsizing wheels question. IP: Logged
Message: Currently I've got 15x7 factory rims with 31x10.5 tires on my 4x4 QC.
Question 1) Is there a tire size that maintains the sectionwidth of 10.5" but runs in the 29.7" to 30.4" range?
Question 2) Will the tire/wheel combined weight be lower if I got 16x8 rims with 31x10.5 tires and by approximately how much?
I'm assuming aluminum rims here.

As far as weght goes it depends on the manufacture and the style of the rim. I have a pair of 15" rim that weigh 12.5 lbs while most others weigh 16lbs + depends on the rim.

Message: If you measure your 31s, I think you'll find they aren't a true 31 - size is nominal. Not a true 10.5 wide either.
