Message: I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with their NV3500 Transmission.
It seems that in the last week when I am shifting into 2nd Gear I can feel a bit of grinding.
Just wondering if this is normal or should I have it looked at? this only happens from 1st to 2nd though! and yes I do have the clutch depressed all the way!
Any thoughts? synchros?
I have a 2003 4.7 4x4 QC.

Message: Are you using full syntheitc or regular in your manual???
I had this problem on Nissans & others - surprisingly in 2nd gear!!! It magically went away when I drained the full synthetic out & put the regular stuff in.
Never did this on a Dodge, so YMMV. Don't recall what kind of 5-speed it was.

Message: Does the grinding go away after the truck warms up? What fluid are you using? Should be Synchromesh or Chrysler spec only. Second gear seems to be the one most likely to gring esp. when the truck is cold.

And I am sure I have the clutch to the floor..
Do you think it could be the syncros this early?

Message: Kevin, et al,
Under warranty, I got a new nv3500, 'cause of the third synchro out.
While I was researching it, I could swear there'
s a TSB, and I know there's an old thread on here somewhere about the 2nd gear synchro, with the wrong part installed new. I don't know if it applies to your tranny, but you may want to look into it. And yes, I believe you know how to shift your tranny.
1st gear grinding?
the NV3500 has no synchro's for 1st, or reverse.
To get it in right everytime, Use 2nd, or 4th, them first, and 3rd or 5th, then Reverse, and it shouldn't grind at all for those gears.
