Subject: Correct Ride Height on Quad Cab 4x4 ? IP: Logged
Message: Howdy...Hope somebody here can help out with some technical specs on suspension height.
I need a set of specifications for the correct original ride height, front and rear, for the Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 (2000-2004 model years.)
Most Dakotas that I see running around have a nice "wedge-like" stance to them (nose down, tail up) and I'd like to figure out where my truck really should be sitting, with factory ride heights.....my truck kind of looks to be leaning the opposite direction (nose up, tail squatting) and I sincerely do NOT like the way it is sitting.
I'm pretty sure that my front is too high and that the rear springs have sagged too low. (the dealer messed with the ride height on the torsion bar settings a year ago, and the truck hasn't looked right since)
Is this anything that anyone has a specification for? Or can somebody with a brand-new 2004 QC 4x4 go and measure their ride heights front and rear and share them?
Much obliged!!! I want to get my truck sitting right to original specs...just would like to be in the right ballpark so that I'm not messing up the front end alignment settings.
Thanks Dodgedakotas.com!!!

Message: Do you have a stock suspension??
Most all the newer trucks you see, the front end is slightly angle. I don't know the exact hight of 4x4 Dakotas but I'm gessing its about 2 inches high than on 2x4s.
If you look at the 05 (D body's) they sit at the same hight.

Message: Michigan Mike:
I just measured my Dakota to center of wheel openings:
Front: 36 1/2"
Rear: 39 1/4"
This is with Roadmasters active suspension installed in the rear. I would not have my truck without Roadmasters active suspension (what a difference)! The truck felt like a cork screw on bumpy corners before the install. No more sloppy feeling after install!
Email me if you need any more info.

Message: Thanks...this is good info to work with.
I just checked my truck, it is measuring 37 1/2" in the
rear, and 37" in the front. It sounds like I'm about an
inch low in the rear, and about 3/4" too high in the front,
give or take. That would explain the odd-looking
stance. If I put anything in the bed, the truck just looks
altogether wrong (nose waaayyy up, tail squatting.)
This is the stock suspension, with original-sized
31x10.5" tires on 15" rims (2000 model year.)
Time to do some readjusting.....spring re-arching too.
Thanks again guys!!

Message: Mike, put the Roadmasters active suspension kit on and you will be suprised. It raises the rear 1/2 to 1 inch.
