Message: There have been a few suggestions on how to improve the Dakota's weak AC. I can't seem to get them all straight so could you please post them in one thread so i can try them all :-)
Also, i added an electric fan to my 87 dakota. I was told to get an A/C Relay. but the parts store said the 87 didn't have one so they don't have one that will fit it. What do i DO?
I have a thermastat on my fan that turns it on at 180 degrees.. will the relay bypass the thermastat?
Thanks, Donald

Message: from my understanding of the A/C you are running the older R12(?) freon, so you cant just top it off yourself. However if you wrap the hard mettal lines (the ones that drip with condensation) in a good insulation. Try tinting your windows, if you cant tint them put on a clear coat of the uv blocking film. Good luck

Message: Thanks,
Have any of you had an experience switching over to the new refrigerant (R123, I think)? Did that help performance?
All of the air conditioner tubing seems to be covered with insulation. There is a tube that goes close by the manifold on the left side of the engine, but i don't think its the air conditioning tubing. Its really close about 4 inches away from the hot manifold.
I have an appointment to get my windows tinted wednesday.
Thanks,
Donald
