Message: P0155 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction
2000 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 4.7
Well the engine light is on with the above code. It was on about 3 weeks ago with the same code, went off for a few weeks, now it's back on. Anyone know where this sensor is located? I have a feeling it may just be lose or dirty. Anyone ever had this problem. I'm hoping to avoid the dealership if possible and save some $.

Message: Can't tell you where it is, but it may not be the sensor. The fault indicates that current is not flowing in the heater circuit. The O2 sensor may be open or it could be in the wiring, connector or fuse.

Message: Heater failure in an O2 sensor is not detrimental at all. It simply keeps it from working effeciently until exhaust gases have warmed it to operating temoerature.
Copied and pasted directly from DC tech website:
P0155-2/1 O2 SENSOR HEATER FAILURE
When Monitored: With battery voltage greater than 9 volts, at a cold start, ECT less than 147°F, battery temperature sensor equal to or less than 27°F, and engine at idle for at least 12 seconds.
Set Condition: O2 sensor voltage greater than 3 volts for 30 to 90 seconds.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
OPEN FUSE
O2S HEATER FEED CIRCUIT OPEN
O2S HEATER GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
O2 SENSOR RELAY

Message: DESCRIPTION
The Oxygen Sensors (O2S) are attached to, and protrude into the vehicle exhaust system. Depending on the emission package, the vehicle may use a total of either 2 or 4 sensors.
Federal Emissions Package: Two sensors are used: upstream (referred to as 1/1) and downstream (referred to as 1/2) With this emission package, the upstream sensor (1/1) is located just before the main catalytic convertor. The downstream sensor (1/2) is located just after the main catalytic convertor.
4.7L California Engines: On this emissions package, 4 sensors are used: 2 upstream (referred to as 1/1 and 2/1) and 2 downstream (referred to as 1/2 and 2/2) With this emission package, the right upstream sensor (2/1) is located in the right exhaust downpipe just before the mini-catalytic convertor. The left upstream sensor (1/1) is located in the left exhaust downpipe just before the mini-catalytic convertor. The right downstream sensor (2/2) is located in the right exhaust downpipe just after the mini-catalytic convertor, and before the main catalytic convertor. The left downstream sensor (1/2) is located in the left exhaust downpipe just after the mini-catalytic convertor, and before the main catalytic convertor.

Message: You are probably still under the federal emissions warranty and can get it fixed for free. Check your warranty booklet, or check with the dealer.

Message: This may be a dumb question, but could a bad 02 Sensor effect the idle of my truck? My idle has been erratic lately. Sometimes it's normal, other times it sinks lower than usual.

Message: Possible, but probably is something else.
More likely...TPS, AIS motor, gummed up throttle body.
