Message: Not sure Andrew. Our Durango was shifting too soon. I had to adjust the kickdown cable to get it to shift a little later.

Message: Check the tranny fluid. To do this proporly. Take it for a drive. Then stop leave the engine running go through every gear with 5 sec intervals then when you get to the bottom work your way back up to park. Then once in park go out and check the dip stick if its low fill it and then repeat the process and check again. This could be the problem.
Checking it with out going through the gears will give you a reading way of showing full when its acually not.
Remeber only use mopar ATF 4

Message: Make sure you have the right transmission fluid in it. Chrysler products take a different kind than Ford and GM. They put a different kind in my Eagle and it didn't shift right till I replaced it. That is one thing I have the dealer replace now. $2,000.00 for a new tranny is just to much. Have it changed when the book says to also.

Message: My dad took it back to the used car lot where he bought it and told them what was going on. They looked at it and put in a tranny from another Durango with fewer miles on it and the dang thing wouldnt shift out of first. He took it back a second time and they were nice enough to put in a "new" rebuilt tranny. No problems yet.
