Subject: drawing in Sea Foam (intake)
IP: Logged

Message:
ok, dumb question time :-( I've used water and/or Sea FOam before, but I've always had a vac port for each cylinder. Now, once I am done with my intake swap, and want to de-carbonize, I am stuck for a way to be positive that it is reaching all 8 cyls. I thought about drawing it in through the brake vac line or PCV line, etc., but I am convcerned that it will not feed all 8.

Since I have my new manifold off the truck right now, what if I drilled a small 1/4" hole in each runner and plugged it with a pipe plug or threaded in a nipple. I could douse each cylinder for sure that way and it would be easy. Or, do I have my head up my a$$ and should dump it in the throat and be done.

Yes, I tend to overthink and get carried away :-)

Thoughts?

THANKS!
Wal

i would just dump it down the TB and be done with it. i've done this to several vehicles and it works well.

Can you edumacate me on the use of Sea Foam? What is it and what is it used for? I have seen several references to it among different posts but have not concluded its actual use?

I have a 2000 with 101k on the 4.7L motor.

it's a top-end(combustion chamber, intake valve) cleaner. it helps get rid of excess carbon buildup on the intake valves and combustion chambers. i've purchased it @ o'reilly's auto parts. works pretty good just follow the directions.

OK, I'll just do that then :-)

Sea Foam is also safe for use with the 02 sensor.

I'm going back out to scrape off some gasket material and a final prep and parts count for the job. After tomorrow night I'll be getting started. I charged my batteries to take some digital pix too.
