Subject: Front Wheel Hub Dust Caps IP: Logged
Message: I just put winter rims on my dakota, and now the bolt that holds the front wheel bearings and hub assembly in place is exposed to the elements. So I suppose the wheel bearings will be exposed to rain, snow, salt as well. Where can I find a couple of dust caps to puch into the hubs for the winter till i put my stock rims back on that already have a cap in the centre? Also, any idea of the diameter of dust cap i need to look for? Or any other vehicles (older or new) that would have a similar size dust cap on the front hubs - so I can go to a scrap yard to find a couple?
Thanks

Message: The bearings are a sealed unit, there is no need for any cap other than appearance

Message: I'm sure moisture will still find it's way in. Is there a way it can be entirely sealed? Plus I don't want salt to rust the threads that hold the nut on.
