Subject: Did I buy an accordion? IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a 2001 Dakota SLT and went to my insurance agent. I expected an increase, but it was more than I expected. So I asked how much it would be with if I had bought a 2001 F-150. That was $100 less! Only thing I can figure is these suffer a lot of damage in an accident. I've never driven anything with this little metal around me.

Have you checked other insurance companies? I've been using Farm Bureau for 10 years, I check rates 1-2 times a year, noone can come close for me. I've never been in any accident more than "fender benders".

Message: I'm a 24 year old male living in New Jersey, I have never been into an accident, and I have zero points on my license. I have full coverage on my 02 slt cc with $1000 deductible, and it costs me $1300 for six months of coverage which works out to $2600 a year roughly. Plus I just got a notice from the company saying that rates are going up, I graduated college a year and a half ago and between my truck payment and my insurance it is really tough to save money. I don't think anyone has it as bad as Jersey as far as insurance is concerned.

Message: I've seen a couple of Dakotas after front end collisons and they collapse hard. I understand that if you hit a wall or a parked vehicle at 60mph your going to get a chance to see what your engine looks like from the other side. They dent easily, then bang up hard, they are a collison deductible nightmare.

Message: I can attest to the fact that they dent easily. I was parked a couple of weeks ago and some ass backed into my right bedside and left a pretty big dent. Luckily I saw him do it and stopped him because his insurance is picking up the $2300 worth of damage, so my rates won't have to be affected at all.

Message: I guess I need to shop around next year. Mine is $870 with $100/500 deductable. Just thought a 14% higher premium over the F-150 was interesting. I'd better save that in gas. I bought it with front end damage so I allready know how much they fold up.

Message: Werd @ Dakotas denting easily.
My cousin hit my driver-side door with a frisbee and the insurance company said "It's totaled."
But seriously, my Dr. Pepper can puts up more of a fight than my Dakota. :o\

Message: I got rear ended in my dakota by some stupid lady in a new VW beetle... low speed.. she got almost all the damage. If you look very very closely, you can see my back bumper is pushed in like 1 or 2 milimeters on the passanger side... negligable. A few months later some assrod hit that same part of the bumper in the parking lot at work and put about an egg sized dent in the bumper. go figure.

Message: Dodge trucks have the worst rating of all trucks for front and rear low speed impact damage. Consumer reports and nhsb say this. Hence higher insurance.

Message: Try progressive.
I am switching from allstate insurance to progressive next month (policy expires the 20th)
My rates are dropping from $202 a month down to $141 a month with the same coverage. If I pay each renewal in full (6 month premium) I'll save another $20 a month.
I'm 25 with 2 tickets.
My 04 explorer has full coverage
and my 94 civic has comp. (my lill race car thats only driven to and from the track)

Message: I had an 86 honda prelude SE, I was 19 and paying 262 a month for just liability. I bought my dak brand new (4.7, quadcab) and my insurance fully covered was 175 a month. I almost sh*t my pants. Just goes to show your not paying to fix a car, but paying to fix some body in case of an accident. 26 now and paying 168 a month fullly covered for my 2000 dak and a 1994 mazda precidia. That's for me and the girlfriend/wife(pretty much). The insurance company jdoes not know about the blower or any of the mods I've done but they wouldn't pay to fix it anyway.
