Subject: Best Tires for an 02 4x4 Quad Cab IP: Logged
Message: Right now my truck has 235/75/R15's on it and that is the tire size that is listed on the inside of the drivers door. The problem is that since my truck is a 4x4 the tires really look too small due to all of the wheel well still available. I have been seeing all of these Dakotas with the 265/70/16's on them that really look good. Since I only have 15" wheels, what tire size could I use that would look bigger (like the 16's), still handle normally and that would not rub every time I turned a corner? Any thoughts, facts or experiences welcome. Thanks!

Message: 32X11.5 are about a 275/70/16. you may need a wider rim. the 16" rim is 8" wide.

Message: I have 265/70/16 Michelin XC LT4 tires. They look awesome on my dak, I wouldn't mind having 17" rims though. They rubbed in the front for a bit, but it stopped after a little bit of driving. The small wheels/tires are not desireable on the 4x4 dakotas. I plan on upgrading to 17 or 18" rims (not chromed to hell). Maybe hit some 275's or 295's. I'll just make a new splash guard.

Message: get 31x10.5 or 33x10.5 BFG ALLTERRAINS or BFG MUDTERRAINS they look and perform awsome. The Goodyear Wrangler MTR's are a wicked tire a little more expensive but call up ur local tire dealer adn they can help you find the right tire u want

Message: I've had the BFG AT's on mine before. Doubt I'll be getting them anymore soon. I just don't do as much off roading as I used to do. If you do alot of off roading, I would recommend them.
I have wide track's on now (firestone), good wet and dry traction on pavement, good for moderate off roading.
I've heard good things about the BFG long trail's.
I don't care for the stock size either, I'd like to upgrade to a wider tire myself.

Message: Mark: I've an 01 QC 4x4 dakota (like yours-with 235/75/R15 stock tires)
The largest tire size you can go with and get NO rubbing is 31x10.5 or 265/75/R15. 32x11.5 give slight rubbing inside the fender wells at full turn but minor trimming of the black plastic can cure this.
Brands:
My recommendation is Michelin LTX M+S if you do mostly on road driving and want good snow traction.
In AT tires I'd go with Bridgestone Deuler AT revo's.(more for on and off road types)
They're on mine now and are great, but not as quiet as the LTX's.
And make sure to get the REVO's as they are far superior to the Dueler AT's without this designation.

Message: I have the Michelin LTX M+S. I am very happy with them and agree with the above post that they are a very good multi purpose tire.
