Subject: Popping noise in front end
IP: Logged

Message:
I've read many posts concerning a popping noise in the front end when turning left (or right-but usually left) into a driveway. I've had this noise forever on my '98 Club Cab and finally discovered what it was. At 82k miles I decided to do the front brakes myself this time rather than pay to have it done. Turns out they're a snap to do, and in the process, I discovered that no one had ever lubricated the caliper mounting pin bushings as instructed in my Haynes manual. I did this with the prescribed hi-temp brake grease and presto! no more popping noise.
