Message: I went out to my dakota this morning to crank it up to melt the ice. I went to turn it on and no power what so ever was detected... I thought this was because of the recent battery swap. I put in another battery.
When i went to get in the vehicle, i turned the ignition on and then damn did i unleash some smoke under the hood. There is a high gauge wire going into the fuse panel under the hood. It is the only big wire going in along with all the little ones. Whatever happened, the wire melted! I am waiting on my dad to take a look at it but i wanted to get some insight! Thanks!

Message: These trucks have a known wiring splice problem directly under the PDC on the drivers side. 2 or 3 wires are spliced together, and the splice frequently corrodes and fails, resulting in no power to the truck. Not sure if that is the problem or not, since I have not heard of one melting a wire, but I suppose it is possible.
