Message: I'm not trying to bring up old news about crap gas mileage, I justed wanted to share how happy I am with mine. Note this is all highway at 5000-6000 feet. Filled up on the northside of Colorado Springs and reset the odometer, then drove to Boulder and back to the same station and my display was showing 15.5 mpg - not bad I thought, until I figured it out for myself and my tripometer showed that I traveled 172 miles, mapquest shows 178 miles and my fill up - 3 clicks was 9.6 gal = over 18 mpg hwy.
Sweet :-). Totally unexpected. No tonneau cover yet.

Message: I just knew mine was off because of the bigger tires, so that is why I double checked the odometer with mapquest, which was prety close. I surely didn't expect the computer to be off by 3 mpg. Maybe it takes a lot more into it's calculations, such as estimated distance to an empty tank among other things and not just the average of your current mpg. For the 3 hour trip, there was at most - 15 min of in-town driving (to make a pickup).

Message: one fill up and mapquest mileage est isn't really a good test.
Write down all your mileage and gas purchases for at least 1 month. Also, you need to adjust the odometer reading for the larger tires on your truck. There are areas on the web that help with this calculation

Message: My computer has been accurate every time I check it against the manual calculation. Keep in mind, the cumputer is a running average. If you dont reset it each time you fill up, it will most likely not be the same as when you check each tank. I use the calculation method ever few fill-ups, and reset the computer every oil change.
