Subject: Something going wrong in Transfer Case? IP: Logged
Message: I'm brand new to this board and posted this same question on the "V8" forum. This is probably the more appropriate place so here goes again.
While deer hunting over the weekend, my '98 Dakota 4X4 started "clunking" somewhere in the drive train. While just starting out or driving very slowly, the RPM will increase as if it slips into neutral, then whatever is slipping will reengage with a "clunk" and everything is normal again. It seems that it does this just after using 4WD High and shifting back into 2WD High. Also it was when everything had been sitting for a while and is not warmed up. It has now been 3 days of normal driving (2WD highway stuff)and it hasn't done it again. The truck has 80,000 miles. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help.

Message: It happen to my '97 Dakota Sport 2X2, took to the shop and the mechanic said that the "Selenoid and Sensor for the transmition governor" was damage. Didn't know what the hell was that but it cost me $255 to be fixed.
Have a good one!!!
