Message: I'm not quite sure about the racing part, but I can tell you that the GTO is a very fast car and it should be with a 350hp 5.7L engine. I sure won't be racing one!

I don't however think they deserve the GTO name...they don't resemble the old GTO's at all.

Message: I went to the local Ford dealership and checked out the 05 Mustang. I love Mustangs, but the car looks much better in pictures than in person. The outside looks poorly designed and the interior appears cheaply fabricated. I just recently had to trade in my 1999 R/T with over $18,000 in mods to get a winter vehicle. The problem is that I own a 2004 GTO and the R/T at the same time. I needed a winter vehicle, so I purchased a Blazer. I see the R/T on the dealer lot and it hurts when I drive by. Regarding the GTO, it is quick off of the factory floor. The big problem for the GTO is the weight, 3,770 lbs. My best so far is 13.2@105. The 2007 GTO is going to be a beast. Over 500 hp, and awd.

Message: The new GTO actually falls right in with the old one. The object of the old GTO was to look like a family car, just like any other car that is out, but be able to beat the balls off any of them.
The new Goat does just that, they easily blend in with other oncoming grand-am's as they look alike...they just go by much faster.
I think they look awesome personally...and I won't be racing one either. :)

Message: Currently overseeing an addition to the local Pontiac Dealer, the word from them is that the 05 will have 400 hp, split duels and some type of hood scoup. They currently have four new 04's, no word on when the 05,s hit the lot.
One other thing, the automatics are rated 21 mpg highway, the manual is 24 mpg, the auto's have a $1000.00 gas guzzler tax on the window sticker.

Message: What do you guys think about Ford axing the SVT Lightning again? They are quick trucks, at the track I saw 2003 and 2004 running consistent 13.5@101 and 102. It is really a shame because it seemed like the truck hp wars were really starting to get going between the SRT-10 Ram and the Ford Lightning. Oh yes, the other question I have for you current Dak owners, what do you think of the next generation Dakota?

Message: Was at two pontiac events this year and a new GTO was out for both of them. Very fast cars, and according to Pontiac's plans, they'll be getting much faster. The one I saw on the track had a 13.52 time at 105 mph. It was going up against a Mustang Mach 1 which got a 13.51.
At both events, guys were saying when the aftermarket for GTO's get's rolling, this will be the coolest car on the road.
Hood scoops are suppose to be coming soon and also 18" wheels, but I just read that Pontiac threw out the wheel idea.
GTO sales have been disappointing thus far due to the high price tag on the car. I love the looks of it, but at the same time, I think it needs more. It will only get better in the years to come. With Dodge bringing back the Charger, Pontiac will want to go all out on this car. An review article in Pontiac High Performance said it all:
"To quote Hans Solo:'She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts.'"

Message: oh and back to the topic:
unless a Dakota has lots of mods, it would be spanked by an LS1.
2 more cents:
the new GTO is such a sleeper. i'd love to smack around unsuspecting vette owners.

Message: Am I wrong to think that GM would never allow the GTO to be faster than the Corvette??? If a GTO for $35,000 were to be faster than a $45,000 vette wouldn't that kill a large portion of the appeal of the corvette?

Message: next year the GTO is suppose to be that 400 hp that the others have claimed. It's gonna get the LS2 motor that's in the new corvette... and i wouldnt worry about the GTO being faster than the vette... that goat weighs a lot more than the vette and the vette has a 50/50 weight distribution.

Message: The price is kind of high though.
Notice they compare the Mach1 to the GTO because of similarities but I think you can buy a SuperCharged Cobra Mustang for less than a GTO.

Message: the GTO is just a couple thousand less than a cobra (msrp) but it does suck they cost so much more than a camaro did... but then again they have a lot more expensive sheet on it than the camaro. A lot more into the interior, IRS, true dual exhaust ('bout damn time GM!).. but i bet the biggest price hike is from the "made in aussie" tag on it.
