Subject: Auxilary Power Port IP: Logged
Message: I have a simple question, but I am mechanically challenged. I have a 2000 dakota quad cab and my auxilary power port has stopped working. I have looked through the owners manual and the fuse panel and I am not sure which fuse goes to it. Can someone help me? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

Message: I had the same problem, blew the fuse with my power inverter. The fuse is actually in the fuse block under the hood and is marked as '20 AMP PW OUT'. Hope this helps! Spacinjason

Message: I have a 2000 quad cab and when my power aux fuse blew I found it on the backside of the fuse panel to the left of the driver. You need to lay on your back with your head near the brake pedal then look up towards the fuse panel. You'll see it on the back - 20 amps.

Message: My Quad Cab is an '01, maybe they put them in different spots? I was surprised to find it under the hood and not in the interior fuse panel. Spacinjason

Message: ch4ngv: why would you need to lay on your back to see the fuse box on a 2000, when all you have to do is open the drivers door and pull the fuse box cover off and look at all the fuses? i too have a 2000 quad cab and that is how i get to them, also i had the same problem with my aux power plug, changed all the fuses in the interior fuse box and the under the hood one and still cannot get that thing to work, cig lighter works but not aux power plug.

Message: You need to look at the back-side of the fuse block. That's why you need to lay on your back. You are right that MOST of the fuses are insde the trap door just inside the drivers door. BUT they power aux fuse is on the oposite side to all the fuses. Trust me I've changed mine a couple of times when my cell phone charger had a short in it.

Message: ch4ngv,
Your were exactly correct. I found the fuse, replaced it and the problem was solved. I'm embarrased to tell you how much time I have spent hunting for that fuse. Thanks again. By the way, there are two other fuses on the back of the fuse panel. Do you know what they are for?

Message: Hey Jake,
According to the Factory Service Manual the one toward the drivers seat is a 10A fuse for both power mirrors and the other one toward the front of the truck is a 10A fuse for the blower motor relay.
There is on space open which is not used.
Hope this helps.

Message: What a great forum! Two guys got thier trucks fixed because another had the same problem before and knew exactly where to look to fix it! Good advise ch4ngv, I will look for those underdash fuses when I get a chance. It will be good knowledge for the future. It's also good to know what the other fuses are for that are located in the same area. Peace! Spacinjason
